LONDON: Israel on Wednesday suspended spokesman Eylon Levy after a dispute with the British government over remarks he made on social media.
Levy, frequently appears in the British media as a spokesperson for the Israeli government since the war between Israel and Hamas started on October 7.
The Israeli official found himself in hot water over an alleged social media conversation with the British Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.
According to various Israeli media outlets, this issue began on March 8 when UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron in a social media post on X urged Israel to allow more trucks into Gaza as the fastest way to get humanitarian aid to those who need it.
Levy while responding on social media that there were no issues with aid into Gaza. This prompted the FCDO to inquire whether his statements demonstrated Israel’s official stance on the subject.
The Israeli prime minister’s office confirmed to the local media that Levy has been suspended. The FCDO refused to make any comment on the incident.
