TEHRAN: A top Iranian official has warned that the US and Britain’s recent airstrikes on Yemen are a desperate attempt to escape the “self-made swamp” of the Gaza war.
Secretary Supreme Council for the Coordination of the Heads of Governments, Mohsen Rezaei, made these remarks on X, comparing the US situation in Yemen to that of Pharaoh’s drowning in the Nile.
“The US and UK’s recent airstrikes on Yemen are a clear indication of their desperation to escape the self-made swamp of the Gaza conflict,” Rezaei wrote on X. “Just as Pharaoh drowned in the Nile, America is destined to drown in the Red Sea.”
The airstrikes, which began on January 12 following a UN Security Council resolution, have targeted Yemeni positions also resulting in the deaths of five individuals and injuries to six others.
The political office of Yemen’s Ansarullah Movement responded to the airstrikes with a statement on Friday night, vowing that the recent aggression against Yemen would be replied.
