ISLAMABAD: Iran has ruled out any direct negotiations with the United States, opting instead to communicate through Pakistan as diplomatic efforts continue in the region, according to a statement from Tehran’s foreign ministry.

Foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei early Saturday confirmed that a Iranian delegation, led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, has arrived in Islamabad on an official visit.

During the trip, the Iranian foreign minister is expected to hold meetings with senior Pakistani leadership as part of ongoing diplomatic engagement.

Baqaei said Pakistan is actively playing its role through what he described as “good offices” aimed at de-escalating tensions and helping bring an end to what Tehran calls an “American-imposed war of aggression”, while working towards restoring peace and stability in the wider region.

He further clarified that no direct talks between Iran and the United States are scheduled. Instead, Tehran’s stance and messages will be conveyed through Pakistan’s mediation channel, underscoring Islamabad’s emerging role as a diplomatic intermediary.

The development comes at a time of heightened regional sensitivity, with Islamabad maintaining contacts with multiple stakeholders in an effort to support dialogue and prevent further escalation.
