Gulf Cooperation Council Slams Houthi Terrorist Attacks on Saudi Arabia

RIYADH: Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi has strongly condemned the terrorist attacks carried out by the Houthi militia targeting Saudi Arabia’s Najran Region, which resulted in the injury of several innocent civilians.

Albudaiwi added that this heinous terrorist crime by the Houthi militia is a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Friday.

He described it as a crime requiring accountability due to its deliberate and indiscriminate targeting of civilians and civilian objects, in blatant defiance of all international norms and charters, and posing a serious threat to regional and international security and stability.

Albudaiwi emphasised that the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is inseparable from the security of the GCC member states, reaffirming the Council’s unwavering solidarity with the Kingdom and its full support for all measures taken to protect its security, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the safety of its citizens and residents.

Qatar Condemns Houthi Militia Attacks on Najran Region

Meanwhile, Qatar also condemned the Houthi militia attacks on Najran Region. Qatar considered the attacks a blatant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty, a breach of international law, and a dangerous escalation threatening regional security and stability.

In a statement, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed its total rejection of targeting civilians, civilian infrastructure, and vital facilities. Reaffirming full solidarity with Saudi Arabia in all measures taken to preserve its territorial integrity, security, and stability, the ministry wished the injured a speedy recovery.

Jordan Condemns Houthi Attack

Jordan on Friday condemned the attack carried out by the Houthi militia targeting civilian areas in Najran Region using indiscriminate projectiles, which injured several civilians.

Jordan considered the attack a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a threat to its security, stability, and territorial integrity, and a flagrant breach of international law and the UN Charter.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates affirmed Jordan’s absolute solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures it takes to protect its sovereignty, security, and the safety of its citizens and residents.

Houthi terrorist attacks injure 11 Civilians in Najran

11 civilians have been injured in Najran Region, seven of whom were Saudi Nationals, including a woman and a four-year-old child who sustained second-degree burns, one Yemeni, two Egyptian, and one Pakistani national, as a result of terrorist Houthi attacks on Thursday, August 6, 2026, said the official Spokesperson of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen Major General Turki Al-Malki.

The terrorist Houthi militia carried out these terrorist attacks using indiscriminate shelling against civilian objects, which is a flagrant violation of the Customary International Humanitarian Law through deliberate targeting of civilians and civilian objects.
