GAZA CITY: When an Israeli bomb struck the Abu Nusair family’s house in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, two-year-old Hoor Abu Nusair lost both her limbs and her family.

Hoor suffered injuries to her feet and head, lost all five of her family members, and lost two fingers on her right hand and portions of her left hand.

The child is just one of the innumerable casualties of Israel’s assault on the Gaza Strip, which is now in its fifth month. The girl’s aunt, Fatima Abu Nusair, told Anadolu that “the girl is suffering both great physical and emotional pain” at the moment.

According to Abu Nusair, if Hoor is not permitted to travel outside for medical care, she faces the possibility of having her right hand’s fingers amputated because surgery cannot be done in Gaza strip due to lack of facilities.

In order for Hoor to live as close to a normal life as possible, she called for “urgent intervention to allow her to travel and have a chance at artificial limbs.”

The World Health Organization reports that Gaza’s hospitals are 300% overcapacity due to the ongoing Israeli onslaught on the beleaguered area.

Palestinian health authorities report that since October 7, Israel has killed at least 27,947 Palestinians—including 12,000 children and 8,190 women—and injured 67,459 more in the Gaza Strip, notwithstanding the International Court of Justice’s temporary verdict.

After a cross-border attack by Hamas that, according to Tel Aviv, claimed the lives of about 1,200 people, Israel has been pounding the Gaza Strip.

According to the UN, 60% of the enclave’s infrastructure was damaged or destroyed by the Israeli offensive, which has resulted in 85% of its population being internally displaced amid severe shortages of food, clean water, and medication.
