NEW YORK: France has strongly opposed the forced displacement of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip by Israel, as affirmed by Nicolas de Riviere, the permanent representative of France to the United Nations. Talking to media, de Riviere emphasized that France stands firmly against the forced displacement of populations and will not support such measures.
“France is opposed to the forced displacement of populations. That’s very clear-cut…We will not support the forced displacement of people,” stated de Riviere during a press briefing.
The French envoy stressed the importance of allowing Palestinians to continue residing in the Gaza Strip under safe and secure conditions. He emphasized that the priority should be ensuring that Palestinians can live in the region without facing forced displacement.
De Riviere dismissed ideas of shutting people out of Gaza or recolonizing the area, labeling them as “harebrained.” He underscored the urgency of putting an end to the military operations and avoiding the targeting of civilians in the region.
