ISLAMABAD: The Caretaker Foreign Minister, Jalil Abbas Jilani, will officially visit Azerbaijan to participate in the 27th meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Council of Ministers. This meeting is scheduled to take place in Susha, Azerbaijan, from October 9 to 10.
During his visit, the Foreign Minister will deliver a speech at the Council of Ministers (COM) and engage in bilateral discussions with ministers from member states and other dignitaries attending the event.
According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office Spokesperson on Saturday, the Council of Ministers serves as the decision-making body of the ECO and is responsible for approving the organization’s decisions and annual work plan.
At the 27th COM, member states will deliberate on ways to enhance sustainable economic development in the ECO region through trade and economic cooperation and mutual support in social, cultural, technical, and scientific domains. The central theme of this year’s event is “Green Transition and Interconnectivity.”
As a founding member, Pakistan maintains a steadfast commitment to the objectives and goals of the ECO and has played a leading role in various significant ECO initiatives and agreements, including the ECO Trade Agreement (ECOTA) and the ECO Transit Transport Framework Agreement (ECOTTFA). —APP
