ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, on Tuesday commended the high morale, readiness and professionalism of officers and troops during a visit to Corps Headquarters Peshawar.
Munir acknowledged Pakistani forces’ commitment to safeguarding the country and its people, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). “The Armed Forces, with the unwavering support of the nation, remain resolute in their determination to defeat terrorism and ensure lasting peace and stability across the country,” he emphasised as per the ISPR statement.
He was briefed on the prevailing security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ongoing counter-terrorism operations, border management measures and the operational preparedness of military formations deployed in the province.
Field Marshal directed the formations to remain vigilant and maintain the highest standards of operational preparedness.
Munir lays a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada
Munir also laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada (monument of martyrs) and offered Fateha (prayers) in tribute to those who lost their lives in defence of the country and during counter-terrorism operations.
He paid tribute to their sacrifices and reaffirmed that they would never be forgotten.
The visit followed renewed terrorist violence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A recent attack in Kohat killed 23 people and injured about 100 others, according to authorities.
Eight terrorists were killed during an overnight clearance operation following the attack.

The armed forces subsequently conducted airstrikes on terrorist sites in the border region with Afghanistan, killing more than 28 terrorists, according to the Information Ministry.
The ministry said the strikes targeted hideouts and safe havens of terrorist organisations responsible for recent attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Security forces also conducted an intelligence-based ground operation in Kohat and Hangu districts, killing eight terrorists, according to ISPR.
Pakistan has repeatedly raised concerns over the use of Afghan territory by terrorist groups to plan and conduct attacks inside the country. Islamabad has particularly called for action against the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan.
The security situation has remained a major challenge since the Taliban returned to power in Kabul in 2021, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa facing repeated terrorist attacks and military operations.
