ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Monday said that tensions between the United States and Iran had eased once again due to the “consistent efforts” of Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
Naqvi made the remarks during a meeting with Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Emir (Chief) Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Interior. The meeting focused on the overall political and security situation in the country, as well as key regional developments.
Both leaders also exchanged views on measures to address public concerns and discussed possible solutions to issues affecting citizens.

During the discussion, Naqvi highlighted Field Marshal Munir’s sustained diplomatic efforts, saying they had contributed to reducing tensions between Washington and Tehran.
The interior ministry, however, did not provide further details regarding the nature of those efforts or elaborate on the circumstances behind the minister’s remarks.
The meeting also reflected an exchange of views on national and regional affairs at a time when Pakistan continues to closely monitor developments in the wider Middle East.
