NEW DELHI: As many as eight people have been killed and several others wounded in a massive blast in a firework factory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, local media reported on Sunday.

The intensity of the blast was so high that a nearby hotel also collapsed while four other compounds were damaged partially. Earlier, two persons succumbed to injuries sustained in an explosion at a firecracker plant in Sivakasi city.
Reports said that incidents at factories are common in India due to poor infrastructure and a lack of safety for the laborers.
