MAKKAH: Deputy Governor of the Makkah Region Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz has visited the Holy Sites to assess the preparations of various organizations and facilities for the upcoming Hajj, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Thursday.
The inspection was conducted under the directives of the Kingdom’s leadership and with the guidance of the Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Governor of the Makkah Region, and the Chairman of the Central Hajj Committee Prince Khalid bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz.
Prince Saud bin Mishaal, accompanied by officials from relevant authorities, visited Arafat, where he received a briefing about the four accommodation centers in the Holy Sites.
Two centers are situated in Arafat and can accommodate 9,300 pilgrims, while another center in Al-Muaisim has a capacity of 6,000 pilgrims and includes three service buildings. The fourth center is located in Muzdalifah and can accommodate up to 28,000 pilgrims and has five residential, administrative, and healthcare buildings.
Prince Saud bin Mishaal also inspected the models of the camps of the pilgrims in Arafat and reviewed the preparations being made. He then visited Mount Arafat and reviewed the project to renovate the surrounding areas, covering an area of over 200,000 square meters.
The deputy governor of Makkah also visited the project to improve the descent stations in Muzdalifah, which covers an area of 27,000 square meters. The project can accommodate up to 18,000 additional pilgrims.
He was briefed on a program implemented by the Kidana Development Company in cooperation with the third sector to provide green areas.
Prince Saud inspected the first phase of the Mashaer Path project, which is environmentally friendly and helps to reduce temperatures. The courtyards of the Grand Mosque and resting areas in Muzdalifah were developed under this project.
It also includes measures to facilitate the movement of disabled and elderly pedestrians, with the objective of providing improved services and convenience for pilgrims.
During his visit to Mina, the deputy governor inspected the development project in the area, covering an area of 33,000 square meters. He received a briefing on the project, designed with the latest technical specifications. The area has the capacity to accommodate up to 37,000 pilgrims.
In the end of the tour, Prince Saud bin Mishaal visited the Government Departments Complex in Al Mashair, where he was briefed on the preparations to provide services to the government system that does not directly serve the pilgrims.
