WASHINGTON: US Vice President Kamala Harris has warned tens of thousands of people gathered in Washington at her biggest rally that her rival Donald Trump was seeking unchecked power as their tightening race for the White House entered its final week.
She spoke on Tuesday evening to a rally estimated by her campaign to number over 75,000 people at the site near the White House where on Jan. 6, 2021, Donald Trump addressed his supporters before they assaulted the US Capitol.
She said that they know who Donald Trump is. Harris added that the then-president has sent an “armed mob” to the US Capitol to make an attempt to overturn his loss in the 2020 presidential polls.
Harris Warns of Dangers of Another Trump Term
“This is someone who is not stable, infatuated with retribution, consumed with complaint and out for unchecked power,” the Vice President said during what her campaign called her closing argument ahead of tightly contested Nov. 5 polls.
Over 53 million US citizens have already voted in the election, Election Hub at the University of Florida said, in a race that will decide who runs the world’s most powerful country for 4 years.
Kamala Harris, who would be the first woman president, and Donald Trump, seeking a return to office following his 2017-21 presidency, diverge on support for Kyiv and NATO, abortion rights, basic democratic principles, taxes, and tariffs that could trigger trade conflicts.
On tariffs, Donald Trump on Tuesday openly mentioned the European Union (EU). “They are brutal,” he stated in Pennsylvania. “They sell millions and millions of vehicles in the US. No, no, no, they are going to have to pay a big price.”
