ISLAMABAD: The first death anniversary of literary icon and renowned playwright Amjad Islam Amjad was observed across the country on Saturday.
He was born on August 4, 1944 in Lahore and made significant contributions in the field of drama and poetry. In addition, Amjad Islam has written more than 40 books in his career.
He received many awards for his literary work including Sitara-e-Imtiaz and Pride of Performance.
Some of the most acclaimed TV plays he has written for PTV include Waris, Waqt, Dehleez, Samandar, Fishaar, Raat, Din, Eendhen and Inkaar.
He has also written some plays for children including Jadu Ki Sheeshi, Bahadur Shehzada and Daal Mein Kala.
Amjad Islam Amjad died of a heart attack on February 10 last year in Lahore. —APP
