ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced the latest party positions in the National Assembly after the recent general polls held on February 8.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has emerged as the largest party with 107 seats in the House. This includes 84 general seats while 23 reserved seats, with nineteen reserved for women and 4 for minorities.
Following closely behind is SIC with 81 general seats. However, the Election Commission of Pakistan is still reviewing reserved seats for the party. A decision is likely by Monday, failing which the remaining 25 seats will be reallocated among other political parties.
Party Positions in National Assembly of Pakistan
As per the statement of the ECP, the Pakistan People’s Party trails behind with 68 seats including 54 general seats and fourteen reserved seats in the lower house of the country’s parliament. Of the reserved seats, 12 are designated for women and 2 for minorities.
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) holds twenty-two seats in the National Assembly, including 17 general seats and five reserved seats for minorities and women.
Other political parties including Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan-Fazl (JUI-F) with seven seats, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) with five, and Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) with four.
Pakistan Muslim League-Zia and Balochistan National Party (BAP) each secured a single seat in the National Assembly of Pakistan.
Meanwhile, independent candidates account for 8 seats in the NA, without affiliations to any political party.
Moreover, elections were not conducted on one constituency while notifications for two seats of the National Assembly are still pending from the Election Commission of Pakistan.
