ISLAMABAD: A Chinese technology and investment group will establish a Pakistan Digital Economy Headquarters in the country to promote digital transformation, investment, and market access.

The project would primarily focus on facilitating investment by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), officials said on Friday.

The initiative was announced during a meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and an 11-member delegation led by Qian Xiaojun, Founder and President of IBI Beijing United Technology Group, at the Prime Minister’s House.

According to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan and China are “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partners.”

He welcomed better cooperation in the digital economy and investment sectors.

Lauding China’s economic progress under President Xi Jinping, the Prime Minister said he looked forward to his upcoming visit to China later this month.

The establishment of the digital economy headquarters would support investment facilitation, industrial cooperation and broader economic modernisation, the PM said.

Delegation head Qian Xiaojun said the group aimed to help build a digital backbone for Pakistan’s economic transformation.

The planned headquarters would serve as a command centre for digital economy cooperation and create new opportunities for SMEs by connecting them with Chinese markets, he added.

“This headquarters will be a command centre for digital transformation and will provide a gateway for small and medium-sized enterprises in Pakistan to access a vast Chinese market,” he said, according to the PM Office Press Release.

The delegation’s visit followed the Pakistan-China Business-to-Business Investment Conference held in Beijing in September 2025 during the Prime Minister’s earlier visit.
