ISLAMABAD: Liu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC), arrived in Islamabad on Sunday on a three-day official visit to Pakistan.

Senator Anusha Rahman Khan and Dr. Mohammad Faisal, Additional Secretary (Asia Pacific), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, received the Chinese minister at the airport, a Foreign Office statement said.

The visit is being carried out at the invitation of Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

“The Minister of IDCPC will call on the leadership of Pakistan and co-chair a high-level event alongside the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister in Islamabad on 2 November 2026,” the FO said.

This visit is a part of the ongoing high-level exchanges between Islamabad and Beijing, reflecting the longstanding friendship and All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between the two countries.

The two nations have maintained close diplomatic and strategic ties, with regular exchanges between their political leadership and ruling party officials forming an important part of their bilateral relationship.

The IDCPC is an agency directly under the CPC Central Committee. It is responsible for managing party-to-party relations, conducting foreign exchanges with political parties and organisations around the world, and gathering political insights to support China’s foreign policy.

China has also committed more than $65 billion in investments in road networks, infrastructure, and development projects in the country under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). In addition, several Chinese private-sector manufacturers have entered into joint ventures with Pakistani partners.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has also resumed direct flight operations between the two countries, reconnecting Islamabad and Beijing after the first flight operated on October 30.

The resumption restores direct air connectivity between the two countries and is expected to facilitate travel for passengers while strengthening aviation links between Islamabad and Beijing.

The restored service is expected to provide greater convenience for business travellers, tourists, students and others travelling between the two countries, while supporting stronger people-to-people contacts and bilateral exchanges.
