RIYADH: Official Spokesperson of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, Major General Turki Al-Malki, said on Wednesday that the Coalition intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the Houthis towards Riyadh.

“A ballistic missile launched by the terrorist Houthi towards Riyadh has been intercepted and destroyed,” he said in a post on X.

Meanwhile, the Saudi Civil Defence on Wednesday lifted danger warnings it earlier issued for Riyadh and Al-Kharj Governorate under its National Early Warning Platform.

“The danger has passed in Riyadh City,” the Saudi Civil Defense said on X. It also issued a similar announcement for Al-Kharj Governorate.

The agency, however, encouraged everyone to continue following civil defense instructions for safety, and to avoid gathering and filming.

Earlier Spokesperson of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen Major General Turki Al-Malki said that two ballistic missiles launched by the Houthi group toward Saudi Arabia’s Dhahran and Haradh were intercepted and destroyed.

In a statement, Al-Malki noted that debris from the interception fell into a residential area in Dhahran. Relevant authorities are currently dealing with the situation, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

In another statement, the Coalition spokesperson said that a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi group toward Haradh was intercepted and destroyed.

Earlier on Tuesday, Major General Turki Al-Malki, said that the Coalition had carried out a precision operation targeting sites and resources used by the Houthi group to support its war efforts and launch attacks against Saudi Arabia, airports, ports and commercial vessels in the Red Sea.

Major General Turki Al-Malki stated that the Coalition’s Joint Forces Command had established that the Houthi group was using civilian objects and vital resources to support its war effort, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Accordingly, this operation focused on neutralising the capabilities used by the Houthi militia to threaten the Kingdom, Yemen, the southern Red Sea, and waterways, the spokesperson said.

The Coalition Forces reaffirmed their strict commitment to international humanitarian law. They took all feasible precautions to avoid incidental civilian casualties or damage to civilian property during the planning and execution of this operation.

Al-Malki said: “The Houthis must immediately cease all terrorist operations targeting civilians and civilian objects, including airports, ports, oil facilities, and infrastructure.”
