SYDNEY: The police in New South Wales (NSW), Australia, confirmed a man’s death on Tuesday due to a blaze that ravaged a rural home in the state’s northern region.
Emergency services were called to Stony Creek Lane in Temagog at 10:15 p.m. local time on Monday after reports of a 56-year-old man missing in the bushfire.
The dead man was discovered by the police when they arrived, and they also found his destroyed bulldozer nearby. Without official identification, the man is assumed to be a local landowner.
A fire that has already burned 21,010 hectares in the Temagog region still poses a big threat to the locals.
The NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) has urged the inhabitants to stay vigilant and monitor their surroundings as the active fire continues approaching residential areas.
As per the fire authority, as of 8:00 a.m. local time on Tuesday, there are currently 69 fires burning across the state, with 32 still not contained.
While no total fire bans are in effect today, the NSW RFS has cautioned that several areas in the northern part of the state will experience high fire danger. —Xinhua/APP
