JALANDHAR, INDIA: An explosion in a parked two-wheeler outside India’s Border Security Force (BSF) Frontier Headquarters in Jalandhar city in Punjab caused panic on Tuesday evening and left a delivery rider injured.
The blast occurred around 8 pm and destroyed a scooter parked near the entrance of the BSF facility, located in the northwestern Indian state, according to Indian media reports.
Indian media reported that the explosion also damaged nearby property and triggered panic in the surrounding area.
According to Indian media reports, the scooter belonged to Gurpreet, a delivery rider working for a private company, who had arrived at the BSF headquarters to deliver a parcel.

Police said the explosion occurred while the rider had gone inside the premises to complete the delivery, Indian media reported.
Gurpreet sustained injuries in the incident, according to Indian media reports.
The blast completely gutted the Yamaha scooter, shattered window panes of a nearby building and scattered debris several metres across the road, Indian media reports said.
The incident took place on a busy road connecting Jalandhar city with the Amritsar–New Delhi highway, causing panic among vendors and commuters.
Shopkeepers at a nearby vegetable market said the explosion was loud enough to be heard nearly a kilometre away, according to Indian media reports.
Forensic teams, bomb disposal squads and dog units were deployed to the site to collect evidence and inspect the area.
Jalandhar Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur Randhawa said no conclusive evidence of sabotage or use of explosives had been found.
She added that all angles were being investigated, including the possibility of a mechanical failure, as the vehicle was reportedly due for servicing.
