ISLAMABAD: Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has lauded Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for Pakistan’s success in bringing about a ceasefire between Iran and the US, hoping that it would bring lasting peace in the Middle East.
He conveyed this in a telephone call with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, a PM Office statement said on Thursday.
The Prime Minister, thanking the King for supporting Pakistan’s peace efforts, appreciated the exemplary restraint demonstrated by the Bahraini leadership in the wake of attacks over the past six weeks, the statement added.
He also expressed condolences over the loss of precious lives in Bahrain during the recent hostilities and prayed for the swift recovery of those injured.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to continue working together for regional peace and stability, according to the statement.

Pakistan is set to host high-stakes negotiations between the United States and Iran this weekend, as a two-week ceasefire — brokered through Islamabad’s intensive diplomatic efforts — entered its second day on Thursday.
Delegations are expected to arrive in Islamabad on Friday, with formal negotiations scheduled for Saturday.
The talks mark a pivotal moment in efforts to de-escalate a conflict that had threatened to engulf the wider Middle East, with Pakistan now positioned at the centre of global diplomacy.
