MELBOURNE: Australia national cricket team have named three uncapped players in their squads for the upcoming white-ball tours of Pakistan and Bangladesh as selectors look to test the team’s depth ahead of a busy international schedule.

All-rounder Liam Scott has earned selection in the ODI squads for both tours, while Victoria batter Ollie Peake has been included for the Pakistan series. T20 specialist Joel Davies has also received his maiden call-up for the Bangladesh T20Is.

Australia will play three ODIs against Pakistan in Rawalpindi and Lahore starting May 30 before heading to Bangladesh for three ODIs in Dhaka followed by a three-match T20I series in Chattogram from June 17.

Mitchell Marsh will captain the touring squads in the absence of regular ODI skipper Pat Cummins and pace trio Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc, who have been rested after the IPL.

Inclusion of new faces

Senior all-rounders Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis have been left out following Australia’s disappointing T20 World Cup campaign earlier this year.

Selector George Bailey welcomed the inclusion of new faces in the squad.

“It’s always exciting to see new players get an opportunity to play international cricket and be a part of the national team,” Bailey said.

Fast bowlers Billy Stanlake and Riley Meredith return for the Pakistan ODIs, while spinner Tanveer Sangha has been included in both ODI squads.

Several IPL-bound players, including Travis Head and Cooper Connolly, are set to join the Bangladesh leg of the tour later.
