The announcement was made via the league’s official social media channels, building excitement for the upcoming event. “A new era. A legendary voice. Atif Aslam leads the HBL PSL anthem,” read the accompanying caption, confirming the news for fans eagerly awaiting the start of the season.
This collaboration will see Aslam headline the tournament’s soundtrack for the second time. He previously performed the official song for the seventh edition, the high-energy track ‘Agay Dekh’, which he recorded alongside Aima Baig.
A landmark edition with eight teams
The 2026 PSL season, scheduled to run from March 26 to May 3, promises to be the biggest yet. The tournament has been expanded to 39 days and will feature a revamped format with eight competing teams. Joining the six original franchises this year are two new entrants: Pindiz and the Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen.
The inclusion of new teams will lead to a busier schedule, with a total of 44 matches planned. The defending champions, Lahore Qalandars, will kick off the tournament on opening night, March 26, when they host the Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen at their home ground.
All eight teams will battle through ten group-stage matches each, with the top four sides securing their spots in the playoff round. The journey will culminate with the final at Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium on May 3, with May 4 kept as a reserve day in case of bad weather.

Cricket expands to new cities
A significant highlight of this edition is the expansion of cricketing frontiers. For the first time in PSL history, the cities of Faisalabad and Peshawar will host league matches, bringing top-tier franchise cricket to new audiences.
The tournament will be spread across six venues. The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will serve as the primary hub, hosting the most matches with a total of 15. It will be followed by the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium (11 matches), and Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad (7).
Karachi’s National Bank Stadium is scheduled to hold six matches, while Multan Cricket Stadium will host four. In a historic moment for the province, Peshawar’s Imran Khan Cricket Stadium is set to stage a single, high-profile fixture on March 28, featuring local side Peshawar Zalmi taking on the new franchise, Pindiz.
To accommodate the packed schedule, the league has scheduled six double-header match days, with three of them taking place at the Gaddafi Stadium, ensuring fans get a full day of non-stop cricket action.
