CAIRO: The Arab Parliament and the Arab League on Tuesday strongly condemned continued attacks by the Houthis against Saudi Arabia, including recent attacks targeting Jazan and Najran airports.

In a statement, President of the Arab Parliament Mohammed Al-Yamahi condemned in the strongest terms the continued attacks by the Houthi militia against the Kingdom, most recently targeting Jazan and Najran airports and resulting in injuries and material damage, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

He affirmed that targeting cities and civilian facilities constitutes a violation of international law and poses a threat to regional security and stability.

Al-Yamahi affirmed the Arab Parliament’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for the measures taken to protect its security and the safety of its citizens and residents.

He emphasised the need for the international community to fulfill its responsibilities regarding these attacks, hold those responsible accountable, and support efforts to consolidate security and stability in the region.

He reiterated that the Kingdom’s security is an integral part of Arab national security.

Meanwhile, the Arab League condemned, in the strongest terms, the Houthi militia’s continued attacks against Saudi Arabia and the dangerous escalation, which included targeting a number of cities and civilian facilities, most recently the two attacks targeting facilities at King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Jazan and Najran International Airport, SPA reported.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Arab League also condemned attempts to target Makkah and Madinah, stressing that any threat to the security and sanctity of the Islamic holy sites constitutes a grave transgression and a provocation to the feelings of Muslims around the world.

Moreover, the Arab League stressed that the continued attacks and their expanding scope, including targeting civil aviation facilities and endangering the safety of passengers and personnel, constitute a blatant violation of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and a breach of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.

It also reiterated its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for the measures it is taking to protect its territory, sovereignty, and the security of its citizens, residents, and pilgrims, and to safeguard its holy sites and national resources.

The Arab League stressed that continued Houthi escalation would prolong the Yemeni crisis and threaten the security of neighbouring countries and international waterways.

Additionally, the Arab League reiterated its support for the legitimate Yemeni government and efforts to reach a comprehensive and sustainable political settlement in accordance with the established references, in a manner that preserves Yemen’s sovereignty, unity, independence, and territorial integrity.
