ISLAMABAD: Foreign ministers from Arab League member states and a group of Islamic countries will gather in Amman on Wednesday for a high-level Ministerial Meeting to forge a unified response to the rapidly deteriorating situation in occupied Jerusalem amid mounting regional and international concern.
Pakistan will be represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, who will travel to Jordan to attend the meeting at the invitation of Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Al Safadi.
The ministerial meeting aims to formulate a common position on the worsening situation in occupied Jerusalem and reaffirm support for the Palestinian people.

The participating foreign ministers will also call on King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of Jordan during the visit.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Dar is expected to hold bilateral meetings with participating foreign ministers to discuss regional developments, particularly the situation in Palestine, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, Tahir Andrabi, Pakistan’s participation underscores its principled support for the Palestinian people and its unwavering commitment to the establishment of an independent, sovereign and contiguous State of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
OIC slams Israeli actions in occupied Palestinian Territory, Gaza Strip
Earlier, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the continued Israeli military actions in the occupied Palestinian territory, particularly attacks targeting health facilities, residential neighbourhoods, and tents sheltering displaced civilians in the Gaza Strip.
General Secretariat of the OIC, in a statement, also expressed deep concern over the ongoing expansion of Israeli settlement activities and the organised violence carried out by extremist settlers under the protection of Israeli occupation forces across the occupied West Bank.

The organisation called on the international community to take decisive action to end these violations and ensure accountability for those responsible.
Reaffirming its support for the ceasefire agreement, the OIC urged the international community to ensure that Israel fulfills its obligations and proceeds with the implementation of the agreement’s second phase in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2803.
The OIC further called for the immediate opening of all border crossings, the unhindered and sufficient delivery of humanitarian assistance, and the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.
It also stressed the importance of preserving the unity of the occupied Palestinian territory and enabling the Government of the State of Palestine to exercise its responsibilities throughout the entire territory, including the Gaza Strip.
