ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s agricultural exports are witnessing significant increase due to the support of Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), official media reported on Saturday. According to Radio Pakistan 45 percent increase has been reported in food exports at the start of this financial year while there is a decrease of 18 percent in imports.
Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said that food items worth 475.7 million dollars were exported in the month of July. Rice topped the list with 135 percent rise in exports while sugar exports observed a phenomenal 590 percent growth.
Exports of vegetables also increased by one hundred percent while fruit exports up by thirteen percent to exceed around 40 million dollars. The PBS stated that the exports of fish increased by 0.5 percent while the meat industry increased by about six percent, generating revenues of approximately 37 million dollars. This increase in exports manifests confidence in country’s agriculture in international market.
