BEIJING: Moin ul Haque, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, said on Wednesday that China-South Asia Expo serves as a bridge for uniting Pakistan and China to expand bilateral cooperation in various sectors.
Addressing the fourth Forum on China-South Asia Technology Transfer and Collaborative Innovation at Kunming Expo, the envoy said that Pakistan, recognizing the value of science and technology, has started the transformative journey of Digital Pakistan by harnessing the vibrant youth, constituting 60 per cent of the population, and tapping into their innovative prowess.
He said the increasing number of Pakistani startups attracting international venture capital proves the untapped potential in the country. Through the establishment of a Special Technological Zone Authority (STZA), Pakistan is nurturing an ecosystem of innovation, research, and entrepreneurship.
Pak-China relations praised
He said that Pakistan and China are close friends and all-weather strategic partners. In recent years two nations have placed an added focus on cooperation in science and technology.
The ambassador said that both countries have also created two dedicated working groups on science and technology and Information Technology cooperation under the CPEC framework. Currently, thirty joint research projects are in advanced stages, which reflect the shared commitment to innovation. As Pakistan and China usher in the CPEC’s second phase, poised for agricultural and industrial transformation, the partnership with China will underpin Pakistan’s technological aspirations, laying a robust foundation for a modern economy.
