SKARDU: The first international flight from Dubai landed at Skardu Monday morning with 80 passengers on board,
The PK-234 flight flew from Dubai at 4:15 am and landed at Skardu International Airport after four hours and 30 minutes.
The first international flight passengers were greeted with flowers.
Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Secretary termed the event as a historic moment and believed that this event will open a new horizon for Pakistan in the tourism sector, particularly at the international level.
Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to United Arab Emirates (UAE) was happy that first flight to Skardu from Dubai coincided with Independence Day.
Skardu airport is the only one in the northern areas of Pakistan that has runway for large aircrafts as Chitral and Gilgit have small airstrips.
