TEHRAN: Iran and Pakistan have set sights on achieving a five billion US dollar trade target in five years.
According to documents made available, the five year Strategic Trade Cooperation Programme between two countries followed by discussions 2028 has been earmarked in achieving the target.
Hadi Talebian Moghaddam who heads Trade Promotion Organisation of Iran (TPOI) stated that Pakistan shares around a thousand kilometre of land border and it is of vital importance for Iran.
President Ebrahim Raisi vision on trade is very clear and that is to develop trade relationship with neighbours and Asian countries, stated the official.
Hadi Talebian Moghaddam informed that Iran Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian visit to Pakistan was part of the plan to boost the existing relationship between the two countries and the five year document was inked between the neighbours.
“The two countries will work together in achieving the target that is marked at 5 billions dollars in five years.”
The official also pointed out that Presidential Trade Agreement (PTA) between Pakistan and Iran was launched in 2006 to flourish trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
The two countries have plans to hold fifth round of Iran-Pakistan Business Forum next month.
