ISLAMABAD: Following the National Assembly’s dissolution, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has imposed a ban on all federal-level appointments and transfers. The decision was conveyed to the secretary of the Establishment Division through a letter on Thursday.

The letter outlined that this ban was enacted in light of the National Assembly (NA) and federal cabinet dissolution. It underlined that all forms of appointments and transfers must be suspended until a caretaker setup is established.

ECP to ensure transparent electoral process

The letter indicated that there is knowledge of potential extensive transfers and postings within various divisions, ministries, and departments. To ensure an equitable and transparent electoral process, it is strongly recommended to refrain from postings and transfers until the interim setup assumes office.

The letter clarified that once the caretaker government is established, appointments and transfers can proceed in accordance with the prevailing legal framework.
