Uzbekistan to Host Next Summit of Central Asian Countries and GCC

TASHKENT: Uzbekistan will host the next summit of the Central Asian countries and the Cooperation Council of the Arab States of the Gulf, it was announced after the first successful gathering in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The summit participants supported the proposal of the Uzbekistan to organize the next meeting of leaders in the format in the city of Samarkand.

The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the first summit of the leaders of the Central Asian countries and the Cooperation Council of the Arab States of the Gulf on 19 July, according to media reports

The summit, chaired by the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman, was also attended by Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyzstan President Sadyr Zhaparov, Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon, Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow President, Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Prime Minister of the UAE Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Kuwait Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad, Deputy Prime Minister of Oman Sheikh Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, Special Representative of the King of Bahrain Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and Secretary General of the Council Jassim Muhammad Al-Budaiwi.

The matters of developing a constructive political dialogue, increasing trade, investment, and economic cooperation, consolidating cultural and humanitarian relations were considered. The participants exchanged views on topical issues of regional and international politics.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev in his speech, stressed the deep historical interconnectedness of the people of Central Asia and the Gulf region, which is based on close trade ties, shared values and traditions, and  Islam.

Describing the current situation, he saud that despite the current challenges and risks, both regions continue to remain an area of peace, stability and progress. The States of Central Asia and the Gulf are long-term and reliable partners.

In the political arena, Shavkat Mirziyoyev highlighted the importance of developing large-scale cooperation in different formats.

In order to bring brotherly nations and peoples closer together, it is proposed to study the problem of developing a multilateral deal on friendship, cooperation, and regional interconnectedness.
