President Vladimir Putin promised retaliation on Monday after a Ukrainian attack on a bridge connecting Moscow-annexed Crimea to Russia killed two civilians and injured their kid.
“Another terrorist attack was committed on the bridge last night,” Vladimir Putin declared on national television.
“Of course, there will be a Russian response.” “The defense ministry is putting together relevant proposals,” he continued.
“From a military standpoint, this is a heinous crime,” President Putin remarked.
He stated that the bridge had not been used for military traffic “for a long time” and advocated for tighter security measures.
“I am waiting for specific proposals to improve the security of this strategic, important transportation facility.”
According to Russian sources, a Ukrainian attack on the Moscow-built bridge killed a civilian couple and injured their child.
Moscow said two drones crashed into the bridge early Monday and blamed “the Kyiv regime.”
Commercial flights to Moscow-annexed Crimea have been halted since the commencement of the Ukrainian offensive, and most Russian visitors travel to Crimea via the bridge.
According to a Ukrainian source, the Ukrainian navy and the SBU security service carried out a nocturnal attack on the Russian-built bridge.
The supporting structures of the bridge remained intact, according to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
The bridge was already largely destroyed in a truck bomb attack in October 2022, which Moscow blamed on Ukraine but Kiev rejected.
