King Salman Directs Naming Riyadh-Qassim Highway after King Fahd

RIYADH: King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz has directed naming the road linking Riyadh with Qassim region as King Fahd Road.

Changing the name of the 337-kilometre-long highway, constructed during the reign of King Fahd, appreciates the late king’s role in expanding the road network and the his accomplishments in the field of transportation, SPA reported on Thursday.

Work continued on the expansion of the highway until it extended to the Haditha border crossing, considered one of the most important parts of the road for its traffic rush and intersection with the road connecting Madinah Munawara with the Qassim region.

As per the data of the Global Competitiveness Forum, Saudi Arabia had a comprehensive and developed road network, making it the top nation on the road network interconnection index.
