BEIRUT: Angry depositors have vandalized branches of several banks in different parts of the country’s capital city Beirut. The country has been mired since 2019 in an economic disaster that the World Bank (WB) has termed one of the worst in modern history. The currency’s market value has severely depreciated against the US dollar in Lebanon. According to media reports, one dollar is exchanged for 93,000 Lebanese pounds in the crisis-hit nation.
