Lionel Messi Not to Participate in 2026 FIFA World Cup

BEIJING: Superstar of Argentine Lionel Messi said he will not play in the next 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Messi told Chinese television Titan Sports on Tuesday that he thinks Qatar was his last World Cup. He said he will see how things go, but as it is right now, he won’t go to the next World Cup.

Messi Scores Seven Goals

Messi, who left Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) last week, guided Argentina to the FIFA World Cup of 2022 in Qatar. In Qatar 2022, Messi scored seven goals to inspire the World Cup success of Argentina.

The PSG forward and former Barcelona will be 39 in 2026. Mexico, Canada, and the US will co-host the World Cup 2026. In 2023, a seven-time FIFA Ballon d’Or winner, Messi, will join Major League Soccer (MLS) club Inter Miami.
