OIC Delegation to Assess Humanitarian Needs of Sudanese Refugees in Chad

JEDDAH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has taken a significant step in addressing the plight of Sudanese refugees in Chad by dispatching a delegation to assess their humanitarian needs. Led by the Director General of the OIC Regional Mission for the Sahel and Chad Lake, the delegation will be in the Republic of Chad from 12 to 20 June 2023.

The primary objective of the delegation is to visit refugee camps, conveying the OIC’s solidarity and support. By engaging directly with the refugees, the delegation aims to gain firsthand insight into their urgent requirements for humanitarian assistance.

In addition to interacting with the refugees, the delegation will hold meetings with relevant authorities of the Republic of Chad. They will also consult with international partners already present on the ground, discussing ways to strengthen support for the Chadian government in coping with this challenging situation.

OIC Secretary-General Receives Pakistan’s Permanent Representative

Meanwhile, at the OIC headquarters in Jeddah, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha, held a meeting with Syed Mohammad Fawad Sher, the Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, to the OIC.

During the meeting, the Secretary-General expressed his appreciation for the active role played by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in the OIC and its dedication to advancing joint Islamic action. In turn, the Permanent Representative commended the Secretary-General for his leadership in implementing the decisions of the Islamic Summit and the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers.
