RIYADH: The second ministerial meeting between the representatives of the League of Arab States and the Pacific Small Island Developing States on Tuesday expressed support for Saudi Arabia’s candidacy to host Expo 2030 in Riyadh.
The meeting decided to exert all required efforts with friendly nations to back the Kingdom’s candidacy.
The meeting released a final communique Riyadh Declaration on Tuesday, acording to SPA.
The participants of the meeting stressed the necessity of ensuring international consultation, adherence to international law and verifiable and independent scientific assessment to preserve, protect, and sustainably manage the oceans and its marine resources.
The meeting also emphasized the importance of providing finance and technology transfers with respect to environmental matters, in order to implement the timely transition to environmentally sound financial activities.
Support for other initiatives
The participants desired to promote cooperation and establish partnerships between Arab and Pacific nations in different fields of mutual interest, including Economy, Trade, Investment, Renewable Energy, Diplomatic relations, Environment Protection, Culture and Dialogue among Civilizations, Education, Scientific and Academic Exchange, Preservation of Maritime Zones, Meteorology, Responses to Natural Disasters, Science and Technology, Tourism and Transportation, Biodiversity, Communication, Marine Resources, Capacity Building, Human Recourses Development, Agriculture, Health and Humanitarian Aid, Infrastructure, Food Security and Sustainable Development, and People-to-People Ties.
The meeting also recognized bilateral cooperation between League of Arab States and the Pacific Small Island Developing States.
The participants highlighted the need to respect people’s civilization and cultural specificity. They determined to continously go forward with expediting dialogue among cultures and civilizations, with a view to ensure peace and development for all mankind.
