WASHINGTON: Ex-US President Donald Trump has said he has been indicted in the federal investigation over his handling of classified papers after leaving the White House, AFP reported on Thursday.
I have been indicted in classified papers investigation: Donald Trump
Donald Trump wrote on his platform Truth Social, “The corrupt Biden Administration has informed my attorneys that I have been Indicted, seemingly over the Boxes Hoax,”. However, the Justice Department has yet to confirm the development. In his social media post, he claimed he has been summoned to a court on Tuesday in Miami.
Trump’s announcement came a day after media reported that prosecutors have informed the ex-president’s legal teams that he is the target of the investigation into his handling of classified papers. Donald Trump has repeatedly rejected the charges. The former President could conceivably be indicted in yet two more cases — over his attempts to overturn the 2020 poll results in Georgia and his role in provoking the Capitol mob assault in 2021.
