Saudi Minister Arrives in London to Strengthen Economic Cooperation with UK

LONDON: Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, the Saudi Minister of Commerce, arrived in London on Sunday, leading a high-level delegation from Saudi Arabia. The visit aims to participate in the third meeting of the Economic and Social Committee of the Saudi-British Strategic Partnership Council, as well as hold important meetings with government and business officials to bolster economic cooperation between the two nations.

During his stay in London until June 8, Minister Al-Qasabi will engage in discussions to promote intra-regional trade in products and services and enhance the economic partnership between Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom. The Saudi delegation comprises 45 officials from 22 government, private, and non-profit institutions, including Dr. Iman bint Habas Al-Mutairi, the Deputy Minister of Commerce and CEO of the National Center for Competitiveness.

Economic Partnerships Between Saudi Arabia and UK

One of the significant meetings scheduled for Minister Al-Qasabi is with Lord Dominic Johnson, the UK Minister of Investment. The discussion, attended by Saudi Ambassador to the UK, Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, will focus on strengthening economic partnerships in priority sectors for both countries.

The ministers will explore avenues to encourage British companies to expand their operations in Saudi Arabia, particularly in promising research and innovation-based areas. The meeting will also involve examining the UK’s entrepreneurship experience and discussing the motivation and financing of start-ups.

The visit of Minister Al-Qasabi underscores the commitment of Saudi Arabia and the UK to deepening their economic ties and fostering mutual growth. The meetings and discussions during the visit are expected to pave the way for increased cooperation and collaboration between the two nations.
