SHEIKHUPURA: In a grisly incident, a mentally unstable man murdered eight people while they were sleeping in Hechidar village, the suburbs of Sheikhupura here on Friday.
According to the police, the deceased were sleeping at separate places in the village when they were attacked. Police has arrested the suspect and recovered the murder weapon from his custody.
District Police Officer (DPO) Sheikhupura, Faisal Mukhtar said the man committed the murders after 3:00 am when the entire village was sleeping.
Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi has taken notice of the incident and sought the police investigation report. He directed the police to ensure justice to the bereaved families.
