QUETTA: Pakistan’s Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has pledged the federal government’s commitment to providing all necessary resources for the promotion of sports. This assurance came during the formal inauguration of the highly anticipated 34th National Games, held in a grand ceremony in Quetta on Monday.
Addressing the audience at the ceremony, the prime minister emphasized the government’s dedication to creating favorable opportunities for the country’s youth to excel in various sports. He expressed pride in the achievements of Pakistani players and athletes who have not only gained recognition within the nation but have also brought glory from international competitions.
PM Shehbaz highlighted the significance of hosting the national games in Balochistan after a gap of 19 years, stating that it exemplifies national unity, strength, and patriotism towards the motherland. He acknowledged the immense potential of Pakistan’s young population in different sports categories and emphasized the importance of harnessing their abilities to bring further success to the country.
Assuring complete government support, the prime minister mentioned past initiatives such as laptop distributions, the establishment of Danish schools, sports promotion, and recognition of high achievers. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing all available resources to the youth, as a healthy nation relies on the well-being of its young population, and progress can be achieved through their proper education.
PM Shehbaz praises armed forces for eliminating terrorism
Speaking about the specter of terrorism that had affected various parts of the country, PM Shehbaz praised the armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and the people for their efforts in eradicating this menace. He paid tribute to the brave individuals who faced terrorism head-on and made sacrifices to safeguard the nation’s security.
Referring to the incidents on May 9, the prime minister condemned the destructive actions and emphasized the need for steps within the boundaries of laws and the constitution to prevent their recurrence. He regarded May 9 as the darkest day in the country’s history and expressed regret over the disrespect shown to the monuments of the martyred.
PM Shehbaz extended his congratulations to the governor, the chief minister, and the management committee for their excellent arrangements to host the national games. He reiterated his commitment to rebuilding Pakistan across all sectors and fields with the support of the nation.
