ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader and former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry has been arrested from outside the Supreme Court of Pakistan building in Islamabad here on Wednesday night.

Fawad Chaudhry was at the Supreme Court since the morning and was eventually taken into custody when he stepped out of the Supreme Court.

Talking to the media on the occasion, Fawad Chaudhry said that PTI Chief Imran Khan was also arrested from the court premises.

The former minister said it was happening for the first time in the country’s history that a Supreme Court lawyer had been arrested from the premises of the apex court.  He maintained that all sections of society are currently facing challenges. The ex-minister said that when he came to the Islamabad High Court, Imran Khan was arrested on the premises of the Islamabad High Court.

He added that his party also raised the matter before the apex court but the case was not fixed for hearing.  He maintained that the problems could be solved via dialogue in politics. “We need to cool down the situation raised by Imran Khan’s arrest,” he said.
