BEIJING: The clinical trials of two traditional Chinese medicines, Fuke qianjin capsules, and Houtou Jianweiling tablets, have been completed in Pakistan.

The randomized, double-blind human clinical trial test report was presented at a ceremony held at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), China Economic Net reported on Saturday.

The trials were conducted by the International Joint Laboratory of Ethnic Medicine of Hunan University of Chinese Medicine (HUCM) and Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Sino-Pakistan TCM Clinic Research Center in Karachi.

This is another achievement after HUCM promoted Yinhuang Qingfei Capsule as the first Chinese patent drug to enter Pakistan in 2019.

A delegation of sixteen Chinese researchers and industrialists from   Hunan Province visited Pakistan and participated in the event where the report was presented. They also participated in discussions for collaboration in biotechnology, traditional medicine, and public health between China and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) members.

Chinese medicines acceptance increasing

President of HUCM Dai Aiguo said that the acceptance of Chinese medicine in Pakistan was increasing, and the cooperation between the two nations in traditional medicines was gaining momentum.

He said that the two countries would carry out exchange and cooperation in a greater scope, deeper level, and wider field. During the University of Karachi visit, the ICCBS and HUCM discussed the prospects of constructing the Atta-ur-Rahman Academician Workstation, the Sino-Pakistan TCM Research Center, and 3 other platforms.

Both sides showed interest in cooperation and inked a framework agreement.  Dai said that both countries have vast scope for cooperation in TCM. The successful trial of two traditional medicines in Pakistan marks a new achievement of the International Joint Laboratory of HUCM.  It is also a big step that would promote cooperation between China and Pakistan.

The visit marked a new round of 10-year engagement since HUCM and ICCBS inked a cooperation agreement in 2013. The two countries have achieved commendable results in academic exchanges, scientific research, and personnel training.

According to HUCM, more enterprises, scholars, and experts will be engaged in the field in the future. –APP
