ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday issued a clarification and rejected media reports, which alleged that the apex court was not audited for the last ten years and that the Public Accounts Committee summoned the top court’s registrar.
A day earlier, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) had summoned SC’s registrar after Eid Ul Fitr following taking notice of the SC not auditing its accounts in the last ten years.
Supreme Court rejects media reports
The Public Account Committee (PAC) Chairman Noor Alam Khan said that no audit para of the SC has come before the PAC in the last ten years and issued directives to summon the registrar of the apex court.
The apex court clarified that its audit has been carried out and also completed up to June 30, 2021.
In a statement, the SC said in a statement, “To set the record straight and the audit of the SC has been conducted and also completed up to 30.06.2021,”.
The SC said that the audit for the fiscal year 2021-22 is under process and can be confirmed by the office of the Auditor General of Pakistan. The apex court further said that media reports regarding the audit of SC are baseless and fabricated.
