33 killed in Nigeria: Officials

Local chairman of Zangon Kataf Francis Zimbo told AP that over 35 houses have been destroyed in the recent wave of violence in Runji in state of Kaduna. However, the top officials of the country did not comment over the statement of Francis Zimbo. The officials also did not provide any details about the causalities in the recent wave of violence.

State commissioner of the security Samuel Aruwan said that forces had fierce clashes with the armed men in the area.

However, no group has claimed responsibility for the recent killings in the Northwest part of the African country. However, some outlaws have been alleged of being responsible for assaults in the region.

Earlier in April, armed men kidnapped ten students about a half-hour drive by car from the area where Saturday’s attack took place.

Nigerian government is still struggling to suppress the violence in the northwest part of the country despite a decrease in attacks in previous year as security troops ramped up military offensive targeting the armed men’s hideouts.
