MUZAFFARABAD: Supreme Court (SC) Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Thursday dismissed the plea by ex-Prime Minister AJK, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan against the decision of AJK High Court, disqualifying him from the office in a contempt of court case.
The High Court had, on Tuesday, sentenced Sardar Tanveer Iliyas Khan in the contempt of court case, disqualifying him from holding any public office and being elected as Member Legislative Assembly. Ilyas while raising significant legal questions on the Judgment of the High Court, had contended that the order was unlawful.
He prayed the court to declare the same null and void.
Ilyas’ lawyer said the court punished his client without framing a charge, giving him the opportunity of fair trial thus having no legal effects.
