EU, Pakistan Vow to Enhance Cooperation in Diverse Fields

ISLAMABAD: Envoy of the European Union (EU) to Pakistan Dr. Riina Kionka has called on Minister for Human Rights Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada in Islamabad, local media reported on Wednesday. The two sides discussed matters of mutual interests and bilateral cooperation especially the upcoming report on GSP+ status progress. They also exchanged several aspects of GSP+ status during the meeting.

EU-Pakistan Cooperation

The minister welcomed the envoy and said that Islamabad had been enjoying good tie with European nations and that these ties are based on common respect and shared global obligations. He also lauded the continuing support of the EU via the GSP+ status for the South Asian country.

He added that Islamabad’s commitments as per the UN Charter and its responsibilities towards international agreements and conventions remained a top priority. Dr Riina Kionka lauded the efforts of Pakistan in the application of its human rights agenda and signaled that EU would continue to assist Islamabad in the execution of the agenda. She further said that continuous efforts were needed to address challenges and EU would continue its support in this connection.

Hussain Pirzada thanked the envoy and also hoped that the cooperation between Islamabad and EU will continue to further flourish.
