Ankara, Riyadh Vow to Further Enhance Ties

RIYADH: Saudi deputy foreign minister Waleed Al-Khuraiji and his Turkish counterpart Burak Akcapar have discussed bilateral relations and matters of mutual interests during a meeting in Riyadh, Arab media reported on Monday.

The meeting was also attended by Turkey’s envoy to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) Fatih Ulusoy.

The two sides also discussed matters and ways to further boost cooperation between the Kingdom and Turkey in diverse fields. Burak Akcapar also visited the office of the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in Riyadh.

The visiting deputy foreign minister also met with secretary general of GCC Jassem Albudaiwi and Dr. Abdulaziz Aluwaisheg at the officer of the GCC.

Albudaiwi stressed the significance of strengthening dialogue between Turkey and GCC, as well as enhancing Gulf-Turkish ties in all sectors.

They also discussed regional and global challenges during the meeting.

The two sides agreed to hold more meetings between the joint technical groups that were formed as per the framework of the joint action plan between Turkey and the GCC, adopted at the 3rd ministerial meeting of the strategic dialogue that was held in Kuwait in 2010.

The GCC Secretary General said that the two sides should set a date for a 6th of such meeting.
