ISLAMABAD: In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), all commercial transport operators, including buses, trucks, taxis, and mini-buses, announced a complete strike in the territory on April 17 against what they said the excesses of the local officers.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the presidents, representatives, and members of all commercial transport associations/unions attended the All J&K Transport Welfare Association conference in Jammu when a decision was taken.

The speakers expressed displeasure with the police’s handling of the situation and concern over the authorities’ attitude.

They claimed that despite the association’s numerous and honest attempts to address the transporters’ long-standing concerns by submitting to the higher authorities, the officers’ careless attitude had compelled them to begin agitation.

Taking strict action on the casual approach of the authorities, the transporters decided to observe a complete strike and suspend the operation of all types of commercial vehicles from Lakhanpur in the Jammu region to Uri in Kashmir on April 17.

The authorities will be responsible for any inconvenience to the general public, the Association said.
