LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday extended Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s protective bail in five separate cases registered against him in Islamabad.

Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has appeared before the Lahore High Court (LHC) in connection with his application for protective bail in five separate cases registered against him in Islamabad.

In five cases, a two-member bench comprising Justice Tariq Saleem and Justice Anwar Hussain heard Imran Khan’s plea seeking protective bail.

Earlier, Registrar’s Office had attached objections to the plea as Imran Khan had already obtained bail in the cases.

As the hearing began, Imran Khan’s counsel told the bench that the PTI Chairman was seeking protective bail in order to travel to Islamabad, where multiple political cases have been registered against him.

At this, Justice Tariq Saleem said that no such precedence could be pointed out from the past when protective bail is granted again.

Imran Khan argues before the court

Imran Khan’s lawyer argued that the legal team was also struggling to understand how to secure bail as so many cases have been registered against the PTI chief.

Justice Tariq Saleem said that it would have been better if this plea had been registered at Islamabad High Court (IHC).

Arguing for himself, Imran Khan said that when he went to Islamabad last time, all roads were blocked, mentioning that even today, he came in secretly.

“In Islamabad police baton-charged the people and used tear gas due to which we had to return,” Imran Khan said, claiming that he returned from there to save his life.

Imran Khan’s counsel told the court that they were only seeking a working day so that they could reach Islamabad; however, the government’s lawyer objected to this.
