DHAKA: Jason Roy struck 132 runs off 124 balls, and Jos Buttler scored half-century as England posted a daunting 326-7 runs target in the second one-day international (ODI) against Bangladesh on Friday in Dhaka.

Bangladesh skipper elected to bowl first and kept England in check at the start before opener Roy and skipper Buttler gave England a lift-off with their fourth-wicket stand of 109 runs.

Moeen Ali added a late blitz of 42 from 35 balls for reigning ODI and T20 world champions England at Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

England’s team is the first side in five years to score more than 300 runs there.

Sam Curran also played his part with an unbeaten 33 off 19 balls.

But top-order batters Phil Salt (7 runs), James Vince (5 runs), and first-match centurion Dawid Malan (11 runs) all fell cheaply.

Roy hit the only six of his knock-off Mehidy Hasan Miraz before scoring his 12th ODI century with four singles from the successive four balls he faced.

He then lashed six fours quickly but departed when Shakib Al Hasan took him for the leg before.

After Roy’s departure, Buttler took over the charge until Mehidy dismissed him for 76 runs off 64 balls.

Taskin was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh with 3-66.

The final match will be played on Monday in Chittagong.

The three-match ODI series is crucial preparation for the ODI World Cup in India later this year.
